My holistic teaching method centers on helping you develop the practical skills you need to play, listen, and think like a pro. Everything I teach has a purpose—you will never learn something without also understanding its practical application to the real-world demands of a working drummer. I structure my lessons and recommended practice routines with a carefully curated regiment that includes:

• Learning songs by ear and playing along to them

• Technique development exercises

• Creating simple drum charts

• Drum tuning

• Drum recording fundamentals

The primary focus of my lessons is to teach you to learn songs by ear and play along to them. Everything else we do will be to serve that core focus, as each song we work on will prioritize a specific skill such as speed, dynamics, timing, or endurance. Plus, being able to quickly learn songs by ear is one of the single most valuable skills you can have as a drummer. Whether your aspirations are as a hobbyist, a working professional, or anything in between, I’ll make sure you learn exactly what you need to know to achieve your goals. All proficiency levels are welcome—if it’s your first time picking up a pair of sticks or you’re an advanced player looking to brush up your technique, we’ll find the right curriculum for you!
